Background
I drove the initiative to integrate generative AI tools and methodologies for Meta's 300-person CD Team – the largest in the world.
Following the explosion of ChatGPT in late 2022, many of my peers on the Meta CD Team were suddenly incorporating generative AI tools. I led the charge to create guidance on how to use genAI to do so responsibly and efficiently.
While it was always secondary to my day-to-day, I am proud of the work accomplished here. Please click here to view a PDF breaking down that effort.

Process
The rapid emergence of genAI presented a dual challenge: How to effectively adopt these new tools responsibly within a massive content organization - without compromising quality or ethics. My strategy involved two complementary approaches:
-
Currently available tools | Develop a program for ensuring effective, responsible use of current 3rd-party genAI tools in CD work.
-
In-house tooling | Work with eng to build custom AI tools that integrate within Meta's content systems and workflows; building off of our existent work.
Impact
This pioneering initiative was never my primary focus in my d2d work. However, it gained traction, and would become Meta’s CD Vision Track 3.1 [the AI Subtrack], meaning it’s critical learning for every new CD that joins Meta. AI tools continue to empower Meta content designers to uplevel their work, scale their impact, and deliver high-quality content solutions at scale.
